Welcome to Year 5

Black History Month

Year 5 were lucky enough to learn about two inspirational black people.

The first was the British Olympian, Derek Redmond, who inspired Year 5 to never give up in the 1994 Barcelona Olympics.

During our Science lesson for the topic 'Space', we investigated the life of Mae Jemieson and her contribution to Space travel.  She was instrumental in the fight for equality for all black women as the first black female astronaut to travel to Space.

Anti-Bullying Week

Here is a sample of work that was undertaken for Anti Bullying Week.  The children enjoyed discussing their opinions on what constitutes as bullying and how they can become proactive in preventing it from happening in our school and community.

Life Choices Collective Worship

The children thoroughly enjoyed producing their end of topic Collective Worship.  They reflected on their learning that had taken place and the Scriptures that they had read.

IPADS

For Computing, the children have been learning about the power of the internet through the topic 'My Online Life.'  We have explored our online reputation and how to maintain our personal safety.
