Year 3 had a fantastic party afternoon . We played some games and had lovely party food. What a great way to end the school year 2020!

Light investigating Shadows
Year 3 looked at how shadows are made - by blocking light.
We went out at 10 o'clock and measured our shadows. They were at least 4 times our height! We blocked the light!
Then we went back out at 12 o'clock - and we measured our shadows again from the same position. Our shadows had shrunk! Why was this? This was because the sun was higher in the sky and when we blocked the light, there was less of our body blocking the light so our shadows were smaller,
Light - Transparent Translucent Opaque
We used torches in class to look at different materials to see which blocked the light the best. We discovered that Opaque objects blocked ALL the light. Translucent objects blocked SOME of the light and Transparent objects blocked NONE of the light
